Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial Fall Classic following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
