Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
