Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 calls for help across the state, mostly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

During the peak on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
