Militiamen laugh as they travel on the rear of a pick-up truck, racing by a series of several corpses and moving in the direction of the setting Sudan's sunset.

"See all this accomplishment. Observe this ethnic cleansing," a combatant shouts.

The fighter grins as he turns the camera on himself and his companion militiamen, their paramilitary badges on display: "They will all perish this way."

The men are exulting in a massacre that humanitarian officials believe claimed the lives of in excess of two thousand individuals in the Sudanese city of al-Fashir last month.

A Community Cut Off from the Outside

After maintaining the urban area under siege for approximately two years, from August the militia moved to reinforce its position and prevent access for the surviving civilian population.

Space-based imagery show that fighters began to erect a immense berm - a built-up earthen wall - encircling the perimeter of the city, sealing off entry points and preventing aid.

Despite the digital campaign being deployed by the RSF, their conduct in el-Fasher have sparked worldwide anger.
