Previous BBC Consultants Undergo MPs' Inquiry After Assertions of Bias in Disclosed Memorandum
We open with questions from Conservative lawmaker Caroline Dinenage, who oversees the committee.
She initiates by providing details to the leaked memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the BBC tilting this way or that way, My only wish is for it neutral, impartial and equitable," he states.
When asked if he thinks the BBC is institutionally biased, he responds: "No I don't. It is important to note, a great deal the BBC creates is world class - encompassing factual and fictional programming."
However, he continues: "There exists substantial tasks that requires attention at the BBC."
Another former external BBC adviser examined by the group, Caroline Daniel, remarks she regards the BBC extremely earnestly and that it maintains a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" on evolving and intricate topics.
"Did the BBC prepared to have a proper conversation and debate and act accordingly?" she questions. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
