The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Track
This latest animated series, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new opening credits. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.
All in all, the opening appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the music selection.
This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its presence.
But for me, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.
The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.
Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.
The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
