The President Invites Families of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the White House

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
