While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The craze became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
