Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
