Ultra-Conservative Ex- Lawmaker J.A. Kast Voted In as Chile's Incoming President.
In a decisive second-round vote, far-right candidate José Antonio Kast has won the top job in Chile.
A Resounding Victory
With over 99% of votes tallied, Kast won 58.17% of the votes, defeating leftist candidate Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This marks Kast's third attempt at the presidency, having earlier been beaten by the incumbent president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.

Known for his staunch socially conservative views and admiration for the era of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's platform was primarily centered on promises to tackle increasing crime and radically restrict immigration.
